As you might have heard today a terrible earthquake shook SW China, it was so strong that it was reported to reach Thailand. Luckily the first I heard about it was from my sis on MSN, I didn’t feel it all. It would have been quite scary, particularly as I work in a 27th floor!
Yes “I work”, you haven’t heard me saying that for some time. Some might argue that I have never done so :-) The first day in the office was good, quite a lot to do from day one, just as I like it. Don’t worry mamma Binks, I won’t be doing long hours …
I haven’t been long here, but something I have learned already is that Mondays are yellow! A lot (and I mean really a lot) of people wear yellow shirts/t-shirts on Mondays to honour the King. Why yellow and why Monday? Yellow is the king’s colour and he was born on a Monday.
The king and the monarchy are profoundly respected. You can see pictures of the king everywhere, from shopping malls to apartment buildings. The photo below is from one of the biggest shopping malls, so you get an idea the mural is about two floors high. I have been told that the respect is such that you shouldn’t even try to stop a running coin by stepping on it. You would be putting your foot on the king’s face, a big no no they say… I bet queen E would like some of this respect and less yellow press attention!
